Good Morning and Happy Fall!
Many of you requested we pull together information in advance in preparation of National Fire Prevention Week.
National Fire Prevention Week runs from October 9-15, 2011, but as always we must practice and
share fire safety on a year round basis.
Here are several state and national websites along with interactive sites for your students to engage in
in helping educate and bring awareness to having smoke detectors and practicing fire prevention.
Not only is this information for students and parents, but it is EQUALLY important for you as a
teacher and/or director. Replace the batteries in your classroom and office smoke detectors. Re-evaluate
your classroom evacuation plans as well as get rid of any extra materials in your classroom that
could serve as a potential fire hazard.....AKA clutter!
Many of you will be having the local fire department come out with their fire truck and/or smoke house. How about introduce the event in advance! Begin by generating a chart or list of questions or "I wonder" thoughts by the students so children can remember to share these questions when the fire department arrives for the event.
