On Thursday October 7, 2010, Jumpstart in partnership with the Pearson Foundation will be hosting their
annual "Read for the Record" Event!
This event is a world recordbreaking campaign that brings together children and adults to read the same book on the same day. Join us and more than 2.5 million children by reading Ezra Jack Keats' "The Snowy Day".
The campaign will also be the kick-off to Jumpstarts yearlong program in helping preschool children in low income neighborhoods for success in school and life.

So you don't have "The Snowy Day" in the library within your classroom?
1. Ask around other centers in your area to see if you could borrow a copy if they have one available.
2. Contact your local First Steps or Resource and Referral office to see if they have one available.
3. Drop by your local library and check out a copy.
4. And last but not least, the link below offers a copy of the book you can read online!

Have fun with the event by bringing in a volunteer or special person to read the book to the class. This could be a visitor in the center, your regional coordinator, a parent volunteer or someone who works in another part of the center! Make it fun!! Change up the location of where you read the story! Who says we always have to read in the library area.....the block area is just as interesting!
Here is a link with activities to help extend the story throughout the day!
